India vs Sri Lanka: Kuldeep Yadav must find his own solutions as MS Dhoni is no longer behind bells

Kuldeep Yadav is no longer with Mahendra Singh Dhoni after Dhoni retirement and that is why he will have to find his way back to form ahead of the T20 World Cup where he can win the match, feels former Indian player Venkatapathy Raju.

Kuldeep had an increase under Dhoni's captain but his form declined under Virat Kohli, which led to him being sacked from the Test.

"The Sri Lankan tracks will be slow, it will bite, so it's good for him (Kuldeep) to come back. As the IPL and T20 World Cup tracks in the UAE are likely to be dry and friendly, Kuldeep could be the winner of the game," said 52-year-old Raju the former Indian player told PTI.

While he needs the captain's confidence but Raju wants the UP spinner to find a solution to get back to its original state.

"But unfortunately, we all know how the skippers played a big part in Kuldeep's growth. He has always said he is free to play under (Mahendra Singh) Dhoni, but Dhoni will not be there for him until his career. I hope he has to come up with a solution," said Raju, one of kumble’s outstanding spin bowling partner until the late 90s

Raju has extended Kuldeep, who has 170 overseas wickets in 91 matches, to work hard on his own, beating the attacking lines.

(Kuldeep) is still a very good spiner with proper variety. He’s still very young, so (if) you already have the experience to play international cricket, it’s all up to him to focus and he’s been taking wickets, he’s not a defensive bowler. "

Raju wants him to take advantage of the limited opportunities available in Sri Lanka.

"He has to clean up the way he knows and get limited opportunities and luckily for him, this (Sri Lankan) trip has arrived, and there will be no big pressure for him, he will have to throw his best because we all know he has that variety," explained Raju.

Once he get wickets, the question that arises about his declining skills will be self-evident, says the left-handed orthodox spinner from Hyderabad.

"(Kuldeep) is a young boy (and) a winner of the game. So, I think he should be very confident and let his cricket talk. He has to work hard, cricket is not easy and he also knows that," Raju told PTI in an interview. on Friday

With the exception of Kuldeep, Raju, who has taken 589 first-round wickets in 177 matches, has nominated all Ravindra Jadeja and Yuzvendra Chahal to be in the India squad for the T20 World Cup, which will be played in the UAE and Oman from October 17. to Oman. November 14.

"You already have Ravindra Jadeja well, he played well, Jadeja will be the first to choose (as he is a smart all-rounder - ready for T20s."

What works for Kuldeep is the fact that he is able to take wickets in worst situation in the event he finds progress.

"Kuldeep has a good habit, if he picks up one wicket, he ends up taking two or three wickets. So, I think he should also be part of the (T20 World)," Raju said.

The first ODI between India and Sri Lanka will be shown on Sony Ten 1, Sony Ten 3 and Sony Six on July 18, starting at 3pm. Raju will also comment on Sony Ten 4 in Telugu.
